Urban Trail Dieppe

Have you pushed yourself a bit too hard during the holiday season and given in to desserts 🥮 too often? Then you need a fitness challenge to get back on track! Head to Dieppe, in Normandy in the Seine-Maritime department for the Urban Trail Dieppe to test yourself against the sea spray 🌊! The race takes place in January, and we won’t hide that it can be chilly with our Norman friends—best to pack something to warm you up.

On the program for the day you’ll find 3 distances, including a walk of 11 km. For the urban trail, it’s a 12.5 km and a 19 km, which is a few hundred meters more than a half marathon. The courses offer all the joys of a trail: pavement, stairs, grass, sand… and perhaps mud depending on the Norman rains ☔️.

The start is given on the Dieppe beach, almost at the water’s edge. Caution, it’s chilly 🥶! You’ll run on the pebbles to reach the town and especially the Dieppe castle museum dating from the XIVth century, the ramparts and the Bonsecours church. It climbs as you’d expect for an urban trail, especially with knee-tusting stairs, which also means (optimistically) you’ll get a magnificent view to reward your effort. You’ll discover the heights of Dieppe and the surrounding nature with its characteristic trails. The great thing about this event is you’ll find many supporters placed at strategic points along the course to give you that extra boost of encouragement to finish with the desire to push yourself further.

For after the race, we recommend visiting Dieppe which, since the 19th century, has been one of France’s most renowned seaside resorts. You can also admire the cliffs, the old town and the fishing port. And for culinary delights, scallops are the local specialty, with herring celebrating its festival in November (that’ll be a great reason to go back 😝). In any case, you’ll enjoy both sport and cuisine 👍.
