Besides the local specialties (the prosciutto 🥓, the cjarsons or the gubana 🧁), the Alpe Adria Saisera Winter Trail will immerse you in an adventure as original as it is stunning 😍. On the border of the Northern Italy, hidden between Slovenia and Austria, you’ll get to dive into the intimate mountain atmosphere Italian 🇮🇹 to tackle several rugged routes. Organized in the heart of winter 🥶, you might even spark a snowball fight with other runners if you’re not satisfied with your results ☃️.

The first strength of this trail is its environment. You’ll roam freely (well, almost, watch out not to lose sight of the markers 😬) through forests and the Italian mountains 🏔️. Plunged under a veil of pristine white, you can observe the landscapes and feel the effort from a new angle. Across the various routes, you’ll learn the names of the mountains and give the impression of mastering perfectly the 'Italian : Lussari, Misconca, Valbruna, Valsaisera and Polveriera will be the words in your vocabulary 📚.

Regarding the sport aspect, the organization is top-notch too. From pleasant exertion to the very physical, you’re sure to find your happiness. If you want to start by discovering what snow running is in the snow, the "Kyle Trail" of 4 km and the "Winter Trail" of 6 km will be your best friends. They’ll let you get hands-on, without committing to a trek you might later regret 😈. Bonus for the "Winter Trail" of 6 km that promises a challenging ascent up to the Rifugio Grego 📈. If you want even more push, head to the "Saisera Winter" of 10 km. A longer route where the required fitness is a bit higher, but still accessible if you want to push into the red a bit 🥵. The last distance is for the mountain wilds and the fadas of the mountains. A 16 km and 914 mD+ in the snow, which will humble you and make you regret not training your hill sessions harder 😬. Too bad for you, sledding isn’t allowed on the descents 🛷.

On the relaxation side, you’ll find plenty of activities near the race: beaches 🏖️, lakes, or even wine tastings 🍷, to enjoy with moderation. For the more daring, activities like climbing 🧗 or via ferrata are also offered, depending on weather conditions ☀️. And like any winter resort, you’ll of course also find skiing, snowboarding 🏂, and many other classic but equally entertaining winter sports. Not far from the Parco Naturale Regionale delle Prealpi Giulie, you can also go in search of the numerous endemic species of the region.

So go ahead and take some time off, and come hike in Friuli-Venezia Giulia to the rhythm of the snowflakes and marmots 🤌.
