Embark on a unique sports experience in Marina di Carrara: the White Marble Marathon offers a marathon, a half-marathon, 32 km, 10 km, and a non-competitive 14 km urban-trail, with a mostly straight course and views of the beach and the Mediterranean. Come play statues on the starting line of the White Marble Marathon in Marina di Carrara, Italy! Rest assured, February's chill won't freeze you in place 🤪. This UNESCO-listed town was also a favorite holiday spot of a certain Michelangelo, renowned sculptor ⚒️. Other sculptors contributed to the use of the Carrara marble in local architecture: the front of its cathedral is crafted in Luna white marble with veins of Colonnata black marble ! Speaking of Colonnata, it’s time for a feast 🍽️. What could be better than some Lardo di Colonnata? 😋 This specialty draws its name from a small village perched in the marble quarries 🏘️. But that’s not all: the lard is even aged in marble vats ! That’s mind-blowing, right? 🤪
