Winter Run České Budějovice is a stage with a uniquely charming atmosphere as part of the beloved winter running circuit in the Czech Republic. When the landscapes of Southern Bohemia don a white coat, runners stow away their warm blankets and head to the start line to prove that for true passion, there’s no such thing as bad weather.
During the winter edition, two fast, dynamic distances are traditionally featured: 4 km and the main race of 8 km (Winter Run). The course and race village are usually set in the picturesque Stromovka Park – the largest urban park in České Budějovice, whose pathways transform into a magical winter race arena. The crisp air and the fantastic ambiance will warm you up, and at the finish you’ll toast with a steaming cup of tea and retrieve the legendary heavy winter motif medal!
Running in freezing weather is a substantial energy expenditure. Once you catch your breath after the race, České Budějovice and its surroundings will offer you ideal, cosy conditions for a winter reset:
A winter tale at the Hluboká Castle : Located just 10 km from the town, this snow-white neo-Gothic castle, inspired by Windsor, England, is simply spectacular in winter. The park around the residence, seized by the cold, is the perfect place for a calm, restorative stroll, medal at the neck 🏰.
The square and the view from the Black Tower (Černá věž) : Přemysl Otakar II Square is one of the largest square plazas in Europe. In winter, surrounded by colorful historic houses and crowned by the central Samson fountain, it has incredible charm.
